The jewellery of Galeria Eldorado preserves the forms and intricate details of ancient Colombian goldwork through a contemporary reproduction process.
Each design originates from an impression taken from an original pre-Columbian ornament. These historical forms are reproduced in Bogotá using reusable moulds, allowing their distinctive shapes and decorative details to be faithfully preserved.
Once cast, the metal components receive a silver underlayer followed by 24k gold plating. A final satin matte finish gives each piece its characteristic warm, softly diffused glow, reminiscent of ancient gold ornaments.
While the original artefacts were often created using sophisticated techniques such as lost-wax casting, today's reproductions are made using contemporary moulding and metal-finishing processes.
Through this approach, Galeria Eldorado brings the remarkable artistry of ancient Colombian goldsmiths into contemporary jewellery.

This pendant draws inspiration from the semicircular ear ornaments (orejeras) of the ancient Zenú (or Sinú), whose goldworking traditions flourished in the Caribbean lowlands of present-day Colombia from approximately 200 BCE to 1600 CE.
The Zenú developed a remarkable tradition of goldsmithing, particularly renowned for its intricate cast filigree. Using techniques such as lost-wax casting, ancient goldsmiths created elaborate ornaments whose delicate openwork designs imitated the appearance of fine metal threads. Their jewellery frequently incorporated geometric patterns and stylised animals, especially birds, reflecting the rich natural environment of the river valleys and wetlands they inhabited.
The semicircular composition of this pendant recalls these ancient ear ornaments. Two stylised birds rise symmetrically from its upper edges, above two curved bands of circular decoration. The outer band features a succession of larger motifs composed of central dots surrounded by concentric circles, while the inner band is adorned with smaller circular openings. Together, these elements create a distinctive geometric rhythm.
Birds occupied an important place in Zenú imagery. Their ability to move between water, land and sky has encouraged interpretations connecting them with different levels of the universe. In this context, the two birds crowning the ornament may suggest a relationship with the celestial or spiritual world, although their precise significance in this particular design remains uncertain.
The arrangement of concentric circular motifs also invites a possible cosmological interpretation. Their succession along the semicircular bands could evoke celestial bodies, cycles of light and darkness, or the movement of the Sun and Moon beneath a symbolic vault of the sky. However, no specific astronomical meaning can be established with certainty. This interpretation therefore remains open, preserving the evocative quality of the composition without assigning it a symbolism unsupported by archaeological evidence.
Reproduced in Colombia using contemporary moulding techniques and finished with 24k gold plating and a soft satin matte finish, this pendant preserves the distinctive visual language of ancient Zenú goldwork while transforming an ancestral ear ornament into a contemporary piece of jewellery.

Galeria Eldorado features jewellery inspired by the goldwork of ancient Colombian civilizations such as the Muisca, Quimbaya, Tairona, Zenú, Calima and Tolima.
These cultures flourished across present-day Colombia from around 1500 BCE until the early 16th century, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of ornaments in tumbaga — an alloy of gold, copper, and sometimes silver.
Today, these artefacts are preserved in major museums, including the Museo del Oro (Bogotá), the Museum of Ethnology (Berlin), the Museo de las Américas (Madrid), the MET (New York), the British Museum (London) and the Musée du Quai Branly (Paris).
Galeria Eldorado revives these ancestral forms through contemporary craftsmanship.
Each piece is handcrafted in small series, using traditional techniques and natural materials. The golden elements are cast and finished in Bogotá, continuing the lineage of Colombia’s ancestral goldsmithing heritage.
Bracelets, earrings, and necklaces featuring natural stones are often one-of-a-kind, selected and assembled individually to ensure the uniqueness of each piece.

To preserve the distinctive satin matte finish of the gold-plated components, avoid prolonged contact with water, perspiration, perfumes, creams and other cosmetics.
We recommend removing your jewellery before showering, swimming or sleeping, and avoiding rubbing or polishing the gold-plated surface.
When not worn, store your piece separately from other jewellery, in a dry place, to protect it from friction, scratches and humidity.
Proper care will help preserve its warm golden appearance and matte finish over time.
