Hidden since the late 12th century in the caves of Mestre Perico, a precious collection of jewellery, pearls, hardstones, and coins was discovered inside a terracotta jar near the village of Costitx. Now held in the Museu de Mallorca, this small treasure remains one of the rarest surviving examples of Andalusi jewellery preserved in such remarkable condition.

Among the pieces unearthed, 24 small gold plaques shaped like four-petalled flowers caught our attention — fine, lightweight, delicately cut from metal and hammered by hand using the ancestral repoussé technique.

This quadrilobed motif, recurring across centuries of Andalusian craft, became the founding form of La Flor.

These plaques were likely sewn onto a ceremonial veil, arranged in a band or diadem to frame the face of a bride from centuries past. A precious ornament, worn close to the skin, charged with meaning, like each piece in the collection.
