Each gold-toned component in the Galeria Eldorado collection is crafted using the lost-wax casting technique (cire perdue), echoing methods once mastered by ancient Colombian goldsmiths.
In Bogotá, local artisans sculpt or mould each design in wax. The wax models are encased in a heat-resistant material, then kiln-fired to melt the wax and create a hollow form. Molten copper is poured into this cavity to produce the final piece.
After casting, the metal is carefully cleaned and polished, coated with a layer of silver, and plated with two layers of 24k gold.
A final satin matte finish softly diffuses the light, giving the metal a warm, timeworn glow — evocative of ancient ceremonial jewellery.
This meticulous, hands-on process ensures the uniqueness and authenticity of every piece.

This pendant reproduces an anthropozoomorphic jaguar-man figure from the ancient Tolima goldworking tradition of Colombia’s Middle Magdalena region, dating from approximately 100–700 CE. Human and feline characteristics merge within a highly stylised, symmetrical body — an extraordinary expression of the relationship between people and the animal world in pre-Columbian thought.
The jaguar held profound significance in ancient Colombia. Its strength, speed and ability to move through the forest, climb trees and swim made it an exceptional creature, capable of inhabiting different realms. Its golden coat was associated with the sun, while its powerful presence inspired both fear and respect.
This ability to move between different environments also gave the jaguar particular significance for spiritual specialists or shamans. By identifying with the animal and incorporating its qualities, a human could symbolically acquire its authority, knowledge and ability to move between worlds.
In the Tolima jaguar-man, these boundaries appear to dissolve: the predominantly human figure assumes feline characteristics, creating a being that belongs fully to neither realm. Its openwork body may evoke the jaguar’s spotted coat, while its rigid symmetry and outstretched limbs give the composition its remarkably powerful silhouette.
The ancient model was originally conceived as a pectoral ornament. Reinterpreted here as a pendant, its frontal composition and strong geometric proportions translate particularly naturally into a contemporary necklace.

Galeria Eldorado features jewellery inspired by the goldwork of ancient Colombian civilizations such as the Muisca, Quimbaya, Tairona, Zenú, Calima and Tolima.
These cultures flourished across present-day Colombia from around 1500 BCE until the early 16th century, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of ornaments in tumbaga — an alloy of gold, copper, and sometimes silver.
Today, these artefacts are preserved in major museums, including the Museo del Oro (Bogotá), the Museum of Ethnology (Berlin), the Museo de las Américas (Madrid), the MET (New York), the British Museum (London) and the Musée du Quai Branly (Paris).
Galeria Eldorado revives these ancestral forms through contemporary craftsmanship.
Each piece is handcrafted in small series, using traditional techniques and natural materials. The golden elements are cast and finished in Bogotá, continuing the lineage of Colombia’s ancestral goldsmithing heritage.
Bracelets, earrings, and necklaces featuring natural stones are often one-of-a-kind, selected and assembled individually to ensure the uniqueness of each piece.

To preserve the distinctive satin matte finish of the gold-plated components, avoid prolonged contact with water, perspiration, perfumes, creams and other cosmetics.
We recommend removing your jewellery before showering, swimming or sleeping, and avoiding rubbing or polishing the gold-plated surface.
When not worn, store your piece separately from other jewellery, in a dry place, to protect it from friction, scratches and humidity.
Proper care will help preserve its warm golden appearance and matte finish over time.
