The Maestro Range showcases Il Bussetto’s mastery of an ancient Tuscan technique that creates seamless leather pieces. This process involves molding wet leather over custom wooden forms shaped to the item’s interior, which, after drying, is individually dyed by hand with natural pigments. Edges are smoothed and polished with a small heated iron tool, the “bussetto,” from which the brand takes its name. As a final touch, the leather is waxed and buffed to a smooth, glossy finish, embodying Il Bussetto’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship. -
Founded in 2004 in Milan, Il Bussetto is renowned for its elegant and functional small leather goods that celebrate Italy’s rich artisanal heritage. Each product is meticulously crafted from premium bovine leather sourced from the finest farms in Europe. Originally colorless, the leather is hand-shaped and individually dyed using natural tannins derived from trees like chestnut and quebracho. This process, combined with natural pigments, glues, and waxes, creates distinctive shades and unique finishes, giving each piece its own character. Il Bussetto’s commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by the “VERA PELLE CONCIATA AL VEGETALE” certification, guaranteeing high-quality vegetable tanning.
The technique of molding wet leather over wooden forms, originally used by Tuscan craftsmen, has been revisited and updated by Il Bussetto. This method creates seamless items, with the leather left to dry for several days before being hand-painted and polished using a heated iron tool called the “bussetto”, from which the brand derives its name. The final step involves waxing and buffing the leather to achieve a glowing luster, ensuring a refined, artisanal finish.

To hide any scratches and restore the leather’s shine, apply a thin layer of Il Bussetto colourless moisturizing cream to the entire painted surface, then rub vigorously with a soft cloth.
