About Sumaqkay

Sumaqkay means “the most beautiful” in native Peruvian Quechua. This word represents what Sumaqkay craftsmen try to accomplish every day at their workshop, through the combination of modern design and traditional pre-Columbian patterns. Sumaqkay workshop is located in Paracas, the hometown of the Paracas culture, known for its fine textiles and tapestries, which serve as inspiration for Sumaqkay’s unique designs.

Sumaqkay is proud to develop this traditional art through constant innovation of weaving techniques and training of talented artisans who devote themselves to create exquisite textiles. Through this art, young textiles artisans can continue a tradition that is at the heart of their pride as Peruvians and as communicators of Peru’s rich textile culture.
