CHIMÚ | Silver & Mother-of-Pearl Earrings

€400.00

Inspiration

MOTCHÉ PARIS–LIMA finds its inspiration in the ancient ceremonial codes of the great pre-Hispanic civilizations. These unique earrings reinterpret a jewel from the Chimú culture (1000–1470 AD), preserved in the Larco Museum in Lima. The sacred ancestor’s face, delicately embossed in silver, is surrounded by undulating motifs that echo the nourishing forces of the marine world. Suspended from a hand-carved spiral of mother-of-pearl, this luminous ensemble evokes the cyclical movement of water and time.

Between shine and substance, the design celebrates a deep connection to the ancestral spirits and oceanic realms, in a language both archaic and modern.

Motché jewelry

MOTCHÉ PARIS–LIMA combines specialist archaeological knowledge with rare ancestral techniques to create exceptional jewelry. After years of research, Carole Fraresso completed her doctoral thesis on Andean metallurgy. Settling in Peru, she began creating her first pieces within the collections of major museums, inspired by the power of ancient forms. Her first exclusive collection was designed for the Larco Museum of Lima, reviving the essence of pre-Columbian jewelry.

Motché favors the manual working of fine sheets of gold or silver (< 1 mm), shaped through repoussé, a technique requiring exceptional finesse and precision. These lightweight creations reconcile presence and movement, monumentality and grace.

Sustainability

Motché designs are handcrafted in small, human-scale workshops in Peru, where artisans perpetuate the memory of ancient techniques. Every piece requires time, dedication, and skill — which naturally limits production and guarantees authenticity.
