An iconic coin purse from the Milanese house Il Bussetto, founded in 2004 and renowned for its artisanal expertise. This traditional tacco, meaning “heel” in Italian, references an early 20th-century technique in which shoemakers used the shape of a shoe heel to mold leather, creating seamless shells. Today, each piece is hand-shaped on a wooden mold, designed to preserve the refined aesthetic and timeless quality of Italian tradition.
The coin purse measures 7 x 7 x 2.2 cm in the large size, holding up to around 30 coins.
Crafted from Italian Cuoio leather with vegetable tanning, this case is hand-shaped on a wooden mold, resulting in a seamless design.
This model comes in an Il Bussetto pouch and box, along with a care instructions leaflet and a certificate of authenticity, available in Italian, English, French, German, and Japanese.
The Maestro Range showcases Il Bussetto’s mastery of an ancient Tuscan technique that produces seamless leather pieces. The process involves molding wet leather over custom wooden forms shaped to the item’s interior. Once dried, each piece is individually dyed by hand using natural pigments. Edges are carefully smoothed and polished with a heated iron tool called the “bussetto”, which gives the brand its name. Finally, the leather is waxed and buffed to a smooth, glossy finish, epitomizing Il Bussetto’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship.

Founded in 2004 in Milan, Il Bussetto is renowned for its elegant and functional small leather goods that celebrate Italy’s rich artisanal heritage. Each product is meticulously crafted from premium bovine leather sourced from the finest farms in Europe. Originally colorless, the leather is hand-shaped and individually dyed using natural tannins derived from trees like chestnut and quebracho. The final step involves waxing and buffing the leather to achieve a glowing luster, ensuring a refined, artisanal finish.
